Whatever the lasting significance of the Alexandria summit, the two leaders went to some effort to demonstrate that it was a psychological success. At the close of the first session, Mubarak told reporters, "We have concentrated heavily on the Palestinian issue, which is vitally important for the peace process. I think the Israeli position is improving a lot." EGYPTAIR. Last December three Arab terrorists accused of belonging to the Libyan-supported Abu Nidal group diverted a Boeing 737 to Malta. After five passengers were shot and the captain pleaded for aid, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak ordered a commando raid. In the attack, 58 of the 79 hostages left on the plane died.
