...Claire Provost ’07 says she did nothing technically illicit on the night of her arrest, when the pint-sized blonde and three like-minded students staged a protest during FBI Director Robert S. Mueller??s talk last month. Provost did nothing illegal, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t want to. “I would have loved to rush the stage,” she says. “The FBI is an inherently violent institution. When four seniors briefly disrupted Mueller??s speech by shouting slogans from their seats, HUPD disregarded Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) regulations stipulating that non-violent protesters be given a warning before they are removed from an event, and instead immediately and forcefully ejected the protestors. Debate is about listening to both sides and both sides having their time to speak. Mr. Mueller??s time to speak wasn’t honored by some who believe they have the right to interrupt or attempt to shout down anyone that disagrees with their particular politics. Think about it this way. If these leftists had their way, the only opinions would ever...

...Michael A. Gould-Wartofsky ’07, Kelly L. Lee ’07, J. Claire Provost ’07, and Maura A. Roosevelt ’07 without warning sets a dangerous precedent that should not be repeated. The incident in question occurred a few minutes into Mueller??s speech at the Institute of Politics (IOP). During a pause, the four protesters—one of whom is an inactive Crimson editorial editor and one of whom is an inactive Crimson news editor—sequentially walked out and shouted a few short prepared sentences about...
