...Alan Herman produced a mixed-media work in 1983 called Government Approved Home Fallout Shelter Snack Bar, a survivalist food counter for the prudent nuclear family, equipped with provisions and three stools. In 1981 Robert Morris created a huge work for the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, titled Jornada del Muerto, after the site of the Trinity test. Morris' effort includes a drawing called The Miyuki Bridge, the bridge to which Kawamoto fled on Aug. 6, 1945, and photographs of Einstein and Oppenheimer juxtaposed with that of a torn and burned...
