Beth (Kristen Bell) is bright, nice, pretty and the youngest curator at Manhattan's Guggenheim Museum. She has just about everything a 20-something could want; but, since this is a standard contemporary romantic comedy, her life is empty because, she says, she hasn't discovered a man wonderful enough to make her want to chuck her job. She soon finds one, when she takes a two-day break from the big exhibition she's preparing and goes to Rome for her sister's wedding. There she meets the groom's best friend Nick (Josh Duhamel). Reading the handwritten logbooks, it's easy to imagine the weary men fording streams with blistered feet, sleeping on piles of straw and taking cover any time a plane flew over, always fearful that...
...exhibition is typical of the edifying surprises that await visitors to the undeservedly neglected museum, occupying a lonely perch above Aldrich Bay in a 122-year-old renovated British fort. Put off, perhaps, by its militaristic name, most tourists exclude it from their itineraries. But while the facility has plenty for the war buff - gun batteries, caponiers and a torpedo station can be seen, as well as bullet holes from the Japanese invasion pockmarking the ruined billets - mainstream visitors will enjoy the general displays that showcase Hong Kong's maritime history from the Ming dynasty to the present...
...myth has it that Sally Lunn's, sallylunns.co.uk, is located in the oldest house in Bath, the elegant Georgian city in the southwest of England that's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Home of the original Bath bun (a rich bread similar to brioche), the restaurant boasts a kitchen museum in its basement. History buffs can see an oven used in the 1600s and other period implements...
