Practically the only thing people agree on about affirmative action as a whole and the program at Harvard in particular is that it isn't working very well. It is so dependent on good faith on the part of the myriad employers here that it has not produced much in the way of concrete results, and its implications of federal tampering with Harvard's independence and devotion to quality have created a reaction against it.
