That the Barebones Parliament was so called "with due regard to the original metaphor" is almost too delightful and original a theory to be spoiled by the prosaic recital of fact. Still, as everyone even slightly acquainted with English history should know, it was named after a member for the city of London, a puritan with the puritanical name of Praise-God Barebones. His brother, by the way, bore the still more astounding name of "If-Christ-had-not-come- thou-wouldst-have-been-damned Barebones...
Families. Judd is but one of several dominant names in Hawaii. Other U. S. missionaries had descendants who have maintained the Islands' spirit and tradition in an extraordinary way while growing rich in sugar and other trade. The most widely advertised name today, that of James D. ("Jim") Dole, belongs to a second cousin of First Governor Dole. "Jim" Dole did not reach the Islands until 1899 to make his fortune in pineapples and become a headliner by giving prizes for trans-Pacific aviation. Other famed Hawaiian names are Alexander, Baldwin, Castle, Cooke (not descendants of Captain Cook), Dillingham, Thurston...

Should the appeal of the Robert Bosch Magneto Co. fail to reverse Justice Grain's decision. Inventor Bosch will have to market his magnetoes, spark plugs, et al., under a new trade mark. Other purchasers of properties under the Alien Property Act will find in the Bosch precedent a promised security from competition of former German owners...
Last month, the now-affluent Floyd Dell wrote a letter to Editor Gold in which he said: "I at first wished to have my name associated with the magazine because it represented a partly Communistic Communist and at any rate rebellious literary tendency, with which I am in sympathy. However, what it seems chiefly to represent is a neurotic literary and pictorial estheticism with which I am completely out of sympathy, and with which I would rather not be associated. . . . Yours for the Revolution...
