Usage:

This year very little of that confidence exists among spectators, even though Harvard has been scoring more often than it did last year. ...canvassers -- mostly young, college graduates--stood on street corners and rang doorbells. In one month they collected over 8000 signatures. Then they checked the signatures against voting lists searching for incorrect signatures.
