...apparently slipped in over the Cambodian border five miles away, overran five adjoining strategic hamlets and one Self-Defense Corps post. Refusing to let the hamlets' 4,000 peasants flee for protection, the Viet Cong fought off 500 counterattacking paratroopers and other government contingents backed by dive bombers, napalm and artillery. Finally the Reds withdrew toward Cambodia, having inflicted the worst government toll of any single action so far in the war: 94 dead, 32 wounded...

Slogging through flooded paddyfields and reed swamps, rifles held high, the government soldiers advanced toward the tree line that marked the Viet Cong position. Investigations have failed to substantiate such reports, although obviously the Communist Viet Cong would like to perpetuate this canard...
...Egyptians have been on the defensive since February and make only local counterattacks to regain objectives, such as water sources, seized by the royalists. The offensive is left to Egypt's Russian-built fighter and bomber planes, which plaster royalist villages with high explosive and napalm. There were reports last week that the Egyptians are now using gas warfare to pry the rebels out of their mountain caves...
