"Dr." Smith was a kind of chiropractor when he conceived these theories and invented the name "Naprapathy" from the Czech naprava ("correction") and the Greek pathos ("suffering"). Naprapaths claim that all disease is due to shrunken ligaments ("ligatights") pressing upon nerves.
