There is nothing noteworthy about this band's sound except that they are following the pack of clones who imitate superbands like U2, Nirvana and the Cranberries. Lead singer Jo Lloyd manages to merely mimic Dolores O'Riordan's vocal stylings from "Zombie," that frantic, slightly nasal guttural pitch. Backed by random noise fillers consisting of drums and guitar, each song is a blur of blah and blech. Forgettable lyrics of the usual uber-topic, love, in all its iterations nicely round out this disappointing disc. With the rise of this new crop of artificially-flavored pop bands, the music...
Nicotine-replacement therapy is designed to temper the acute symptoms of withdrawal, such as irritability, sleeplessness and anxiety. Nowadays you have a choice between gum, skin patches or nasal sprays. These substitutes still deliver nicotine to your bloodstream, but more slowly than smoking does and at a lower dose. Gums and sprays work more quickly to ease withdrawal, although doctors report that these products are also subject to abuse. He spends a few more minutes chatting with Shoe, then reminds her to return in a few weeks for a flu shot...
...newest issue of Rolling Stone, Rzeznik himself sheds here as well some of the down-home Buffalo boy that got him and his band where they are today. On certain tracks, such as "January Friend," his normally earnest, raspy voice mutates to a synthetic-sounding and nasal scratchiness, reminiscent of a phlegmy Ed Roland. The Goo Dolls, however, are no Collective Soul; Rzeznik here commits the double wrong of choosing the wrong person to imitate and failing to do it accurately...
