Jack and Stanley have two father-son talks--one regarding Stanley's near loss of a job, and one regarding Stanley's gambling away his salary. Admittedly, the latter is a weak moment in the script, but the slow, word-minced, unemotional exchange between Frost and Herzstein reflects neither the son's penitence and rededication to the family nor the father's pervading concern about his overseas relatives and the possibility that they might be coming to live in his already cramped quarters...
Aficionados of lighting effects might be a bit disappointed by the production. But between pertinent parody and near-perfect performance, The Mikado is definitely worth seeing...
...background, is brought to center stage, detracting from the play itself. The audience is treated to such extended vignettes as Axel struggling with Scotch tape and the embassy priest struggling to free himself from a Houdiniesque magic trick. These antics are funny by themselves, but are not anywhere near enough to carry an entire play...
...Crimson had a near perfect slate, with only two losses, both of which could have easily have been Crimson wins. The racquetwomen expected a tougher match from Trinity, but Harvard just cruised like a ship in the ocean...Harvard simply dominated...
