...House of Glass" by Max Marcin is at the St. James this week. It is a play that moves along easily enough, with the convict problem and the give-him-another-chance idea as motivators. Needless to say the problem it not solved; it never is. Nevertheless it is a good story. Mrs. Lake, wife of a railroad man, is the innocent victim of the Law (capitalized). Their troubles begin when her first lover turns out to be a house-breaker and she is convicted wrongly with him. She breaks her parole, marries Mr. Lake who is a crook hater...

...plan: the proposed rule being passed, a football team must play opponents in the same class, say 158 to 175 pounds; and every man of the team must weigh in, as in boxing, between these figures. The guards and backfield would tip the scales alike. Such a plan, needless to say, would simply do away with football as it is played today. Altogether, this gratuitous and senseless levy upon the tools of education...

...needless to comment on the Plattsburg plan of supplying men trained in times of peace who are able to serve as officers in any emergency. Too many of us know from experience the complete success of the plan to warrant a repetition or details. To the men who conceived the Plattsburg idea and put it into execution the country is greatly indebted. At the present time there is a feeling that one emergency just past precludes the possibility of another for ages to come; that even if this is doubtful, there are enough trained war veterans to take care...

...Freshman Smoker Committee has definitely decided not to hold another class smoker this year. The committee had at first planned to give a second smoker in the Union toward the end of this month, but have come to the conclusion that it would be a needless expense owing to the "Got Together" meetings and the proximity of the Jubilee. The first smoker was held April...
