Commenting on the Mott Haven games, the Yale News says: "In the one hundred yards dash, Yale's representative came in ahead by several feet, yet through the carelessness of the judges, two of whom were 'not looking,' the event was given to Harvard. The referee has no power to decide, except in cases where the judges disagree, so the decision was made by one judge, and that judge - a Harvard graduate! Times writes as follows concerning the announcement of the result of the Harvard-Yale freshman game: "Plenty of rumors got afloat early in the evening, and they were very conflicting, but no authentic news came from the scene of war.
