...midterm season, and this week grades are coming back. For the new Security Systems Incorporated (SSI) guards who are watching over the Houses, the news is mixed at best. As reported last week, anecdotal evidence suggests the guards could use a little more time to understand the workings of Harvard and the lives of its students--time, with the nature of SSI workers, they many not have before taking another job. Our first concern is safety, and so far SSI guards are doing the job; however, we worry if the mixed bag students have seen from their guards may cost...

...deeply saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Richard C. Marius (News, Nov. 8). I was his student in two classes (and otherwise, in more ways than I can count), but I am lucky to have met him at all. When I arrived to shop his seminar on Shakespeare's history plays, the room was bursting with senior English concentrators. Thinking that I would never get a seat in the class, I almost left. Unfortunately, several gay students and tutors have experienced similar abuse in the form of hateful graffiti. A veritable uproar of indignation has followed news of the graffiti, and rightly so. The one or more confused and decidedly un-Christian people responsible for it should be punished severely when caught. But, honestly, the graffiti was no more obscene (how could it be?) than the BGLTSA flyers posted across Harvard Yard...
