Ruder showed the junketeers a small permanent magnet made of a new iron alloy containing aluminum, nickel and cobalt, hence called "Alnico." This stuff is so powerfully magnetic that it lifts 60 times its own weight, as was demonstrated when a 55-lb. radio cabinet swung from an Alnico disk of less than a pound.
