...latest shake of the kaleidoscope resulted in new patterns and alignments overwhelmingly favorable to Gamal Abdel Nasser. The Syrian revolution was the third in six months by rebels pledged to make common cause with Egypt. Flights of new leaders poured into Cairo for tear-stained embraces with Nasser and nightlong conferences on the future course of that misty concept called Arab unity. Nasser stands at the pinnacle of prestige, if not of power, and the shadow he casts has never been longer. Today, it falls over the entire Arab world from the Persian Gulf to the Atlantic Ocean...

...problem, many chalet parties end up at one of the town's three fine restaurants. Newest nightspot, and wildest by far, is Le Chesery, built last year for $575,000 by the Aga's Uncle Sadruddin Khan. ...roader, tried to get the two factions together in the middle-of-the-road town of Horns. Up from ancient Damascus came the conservative, high-ranking officers who supported General Zahreddin; down from Aleppo in the north came hotheaded, pro-Nasser junior officers of Colonel Louis Atassi. After a nightlong acrimonious debate, the officers emerged smiling into the daylight to announce complete agreement...
