...overture opened last night the last Symphony Concert of the season in Cambridge. The overture was finely rendered by the orchestra. The two selections from Godard were the third and fourth movements of his "Symphonie Orientale," a symphony descriptive of poems by De Lisle, Hugo and Godard. The first. Nikia's Dream, has a beautiful melody for the oboe, taken up by the violins, and then changing to a subject employing the whole orchestra. In the second, In the Hammock, the pricipal theme is introduced by the clarionet and worked out by the strings. The two pieces are excellent examples...
