...They Watch What You Do." This is the oblivion that is settling down upon the 12 million people of Northern Viet Nam, whose fate reflects the tragedy and helplessness of Asia. ...Negro educators, the name of Cleo W. Blackburn, 45, ranks high. A former Tuskegee teacher, Sociologist Blackburn took over Planner House in Indianapolis 18 years ago, changed it from a struggling Negro social center to a flourishing institution dedicated to helping Southern rural Negroes adjust to Northern city life. After a few seasons of unusually high soil temperatures, the trees die back at the tops. Already, said Pomerleau, much timber has been affected. If the dying trees are not harvested soon, fungi will destroy them...
...Ewald von Kleist, 73, German World War II tank commander, exponent and early practitioner of the blitzkrieg; of circulatory difficulties; in a Russian prison camp. Product of the Prussian military caste, Von Kleist contributed decisively to France's swift collapse by sending his Panzer divisions racing around the northern end of the Maginot Line. In 1945 he surrendered to two American soldiers (to avoid being captured "in the presence of common, retreating German soldiers"), was sentenced to 15 years as a war criminal by the Yugoslavs, who then turned him over to the Russians...
