...Threat of Tuna Extinction Kudos for the article on tuna fisheries and the huge dangers of overfishing [Nov. 16]. A major problem is overpopulation. Our numbers are becoming so great that we are simply outstripping our resources. Gary Tackman, ESCANABA, MICH...

...Ritz Rocks "Silver-Spoon Voluntourism" - high-end hotels facilitating eco-friendly projects for guests - is genius [Nov. 16]. I think it is great that a hotel as regal as the Ritz-Carlton, a hotel I would not ordinarily associate with community service, is taking action. President Obama should be happy he doesn't have to do it alone anymore. Emily Larson, MANSFIELD, MASS...

...Developed World The excellent "Postcard: North Parsonfield" by Christopher Ketcham was almost worth my year's subscription to TIME on its own [Nov. 16]. This short item shone a bright light on how close some pockets of U.S. society are to parts of the Third World, with their lack of health care and their gun-toting distrust of democratic institutions. Dr. Stephen Hopkins, ECCLES...

Surely it was the epochal election of a Polish Pope, the most charismatic in centuries, and his triumphant return to Poland, that widened earlier cracks in the wall. Margaret Thatcher was the first Western leader to recognise Gorbachev as "someone we can do business with" while Washington policymakers stalled. Paddy McGarvey, CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND...

But as I read on I realized that Klein's ideas were not only rational and sound, they accurately described the problem with government employees' massive advantage in health insurance, and how the powerful unions will negate any attempt to tax their "gold-plated health care plans." The article even brought me to shame when he stated that we're nowhere close to a reasonable...
