...better reflect the pick-and-mix trend than Barcelona-based product designer[an error occurred while processing this directive] Jaime Hayón. The 32-year-old Spaniard has a taste for the theatrical, so calling the latest overview of his work (at the Aram Gallery in London until Nov. 4) "Stage" is entirely appropriate. Playfulness is a hallmark, too. Having won a cult following in 2004 for his zany yet unsettling space-invader figurines - which were, not surprisingly, big in Japan - Hayón then broke through last year in that most conservative corner of product design, the bathroom...
...fighting intensely close races. On Monday,in a 90-minute closed-door meeting at Orlando International Airport, they anointed state Representative Joe Negron as Foley's replacement. But Negron faces a tougher task than a late-starting candidate would ordinarily; by law, Foley's name must remain on the Nov. 7 ballot, and though a vote for Foley would count as a vote for Negron, the chances of getting enough voters to drop their ill will toward Foley long enough to mark his name look slim at best. Wuterich is under investigation for what happened on another day, just two months after his arrival in Iraq. On the morning of Nov. 19, 2005, Wuterich's squad, on patrol in Haditha, was hit by an improvised explosive device that killed one of his men. Iraqi witnesses and sources familiar with the two Pentagon investigations under way claim that several of the squad's 12 Marines then went on a rampage of killing in the town, leaving 24 Iraqis dead, including five women and six children. Wuterich's lawyer Neal Puckett would not permit Wuterich to talk about those events...
