King used every available middleman to publish this novella in e-book format. He used an agent, a publisher, e-book distributors and several online bookstores. He didn't publish or distribute the book himself, nor did he sell it himself through his own website. Maybe the middlemen cut themselves out profitwise to offer the e-novella for free...
