Johnny gets out on parole. First night his cronies celebrate with a little corybantic in which gangster cuties are sent slithering across tables, sofas and floors as casually as spilled drinks. Johnny finds a nude Continental bunny (Margit Saad) in his own bed, and after that night she sticks as close to him as a birthmark. He has a bigger caper in mind, lifting ?40,000 from a race track. To the syncopated beat of the score, the job goes off with tingling finesse. In a bleak, snow-bitten field, Johnny digs a hole and buries his loot; two reels...

...palazzo on the Grand Canal. Entertaining at a Tiepolo-lined rented palazzo was the flamboyant Greek-born beauty, Iris Clert, whose far-out gallery in Paris is credited with discovering Jean Tinguely, inventor of machine-operated sculptures that destroy themselves, and the late monochromist Yves Klein, who used his nude models as "living brushes." But whenever the script gets draggy, Director Richard Quine perks things up with a sight gag-like Kim Novak tubbing with the nude serenity of the White Rock girl while the intruding Lemmon clicks his eyes open and shut at the speed of a navy signal light. In a berserk finale, Novak trades punches with a lady nurse the size of a Japanese Sumo wrestler, and Lemmon goes on a piston-legged, cliffside...
...Tiepolo bore the sinister title of Time Carrying Off Beauty. But on close examination, museum officials decided, as museum officials will, that some earlier expert had goofed. True enough, the old bearded figure with his wings, his chariot and scythe, was certainly Time; and even Beauty, bejeweled and almost nude, seemed to be true to tradition. But why, asked the museum, did the whole painting revolve around the woman's right leg, with the foot resting on a globe? She herself points at the leg; Cupid puts his hand on it; both Time and the parrot seem transfixed...
