The large annual surpluses make considerable expenditures possible; so that during the last six years the annual expenditures have averaged $6000. During the past year there have been added 3228 volumes and 104 pamphlets, making the total number in the library on Sept. 1, 1896, 38,000 volumes, and 4300 pamphlets.
