Compulsory physical training is not meant to bear all its fruits during the Freshman year. Colleges which have tried it have found that a far greater number of their students have turned out for athletics during their last three years with compulsion during the first year, than under a strictly laissez-faire policy. Men who have never partaken in any sports or games in their school days will be drawn into them in college and will be able to enjoy them and profit by them throughout life. ...well of 1922 will be eligible for the photographic contest which is to begin tomorrow evening at 7.30 o'clock. Following the usual black-board talk in the Locker Building, the squad trotted out in a drizzling rain for its first workout on the Stadium gridiron, which has been returfed during the summer. H. R. Hardwick '15 took the backs in hand, and showed them a number of points on taking men out and general interference work, using a dummy and straw in one corner of the field. After that the backs caught punts, which gave them especially useful practice in handling a wet pig-skin. Meanwhile there was charging practice for the linesmen. For the last forty minutes...
