Last week Nunn and an ideologically diverse group of Democratic legislators kicked off the most ambitious drive for national service in more than a generation. They envision a Citizens Corps that would enlist as many as 1 million young high school graduates to spend at least a year working for $100 a week in places like hospices and homeless shelters in their local communities.
