There weren't any friends, none. Most of the kids I knew were all NYC Jews. I didn't get to see most of the Harvard men I expected...
Dealings with Neighborhood Youth Corps enrollees were similarly casual. The intention had been that they would hold jobs for six months and then return to school. Often enough, this was not made clear to NYC enrollees themselves. An eighteen-year-old boy at the agency where I worked was suddenly, in September, given the choice of returning to school or being kicked out of the program two weeks later. He chose the latter...
Though the theory was that all NYC enrollees would have counselors from the time of their enrollment, this boy -- let us call him Donald -- never saw a counselor until the day he was given the ultimatum. Note that there is no great difference in cost between a jet and a prop-jet and a DC-7 based on a per seat cost. HSA has raised its prices for jets this summer to $271 to $310 Again I ask HSA to make public its costs and to clearly show where the "profits" from the Charter...
