Lack of facilities for winter rowing will delay the start of the crew practice so that oarsmen will not report at the Locker Building today as had been originally planned. Until the coal shortage is relieved and the Locker Building is reopened there will be no machine work. Practice will be started on the rowing machines recently transferred to the Locker Building as soon as possible...
...spring crew season for informal and Freshman oarsmen will not start on Monday as previously announced, for at present the University is without available facilities for training the two squads. Several weeks ago when both boathouses were closed in order to aid in conserving the fuel supply, the rowing machines were moved into the Locker Building. Recently heat in this building also was shut off. If the warm weather continues, however, it is expected that the Locker Building will be reopened on Tuesday. This year the rowing squads will be more like an athletic class, with especial emphasis on the physical development of the oarsmen...

A year ago at this time the boathouse was packed with ambitious oarsmen; now at most two or three report. Possibly the members of the University are working too hand to take an hour off every few afternoons, but somehow we doubt it. The word "informal" should not carry with it any sort of stigma, especially as the crew is probably to row a similar Yale organization this spring...
