Three races took place between this and the senior event, which was the feature of the day. In this race, besides the Yale second crew, the University faced the Union Boat Club, composed of former Harvard oarsmen, the Syracuse University crew which won the race at Poughkeepsie last year, and the first Navy crew which defeated the University crew at Annapolis.
