...Russell sent a letter informing Northeast that because "certain of your activities may have been conducted in violation of license requirements," the NRC was considering penalties. In an extraordinary move, Russell demanded a complete review of every system at Millstone 1, with the results "submitted under oath," to prove that every part of the plant is safe--the global examination Galatis asked for two years ago. The results, Russell wrote, "will be used to decide whether or not the license of Millstone Unit 1 should be suspended, modified or revoked...

...restore the legitimate Haitian President, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, to power and in so doing halt the flood of boat people. With 20,000 U.S. troops and a little help from Jimmy Carter, Clinton did it. Objective No. 2 was achieved last week when Rene Preval took the presidential oath and Haiti experienced its first-ever peaceful transfer of power from one popularly elected leader to another. But what they want to avoid at all costs is to have Clinton take the stand and be cross-examined by Kenneth Starr. If that would happen, Starr could ask him under oath anything related to the investigation. The wording of the order from U.S. District Judge George Howard, Jr. gives the President an opening to avoid live testimony. In any case, it's highly unlikely that you'd see the President flying down to Little Rock to testify in person." Having pursued...
