Henry Holt and Company, of New York, have recently published a translation by Professor S. M. Macvane, of Charles Seignobos's "Political History of Europe since 1814." In his preface, Professor Macvane states that the object of the translation is to insure the book wider appreciation than could be gained in the original French. It is not merely a translation, for several passages have been altered to remedy imperfections, especially in the chapters on England, which are somewhat inadequate.
