The Philippines' objection stems from its claim to Sabah. However, this claim is both tenuous and obscure, and the Philippines have showed no aggressive tendencies. Indonesia has been less reticent. President Sukarno has promised to crush Malaysia and has sent combat troops to the borders of Sarawak and Sabah.

I object to the Governor's being invited here. My objection is not a disparagement of the right of the Harvard-Radcliffe Young Democrats to invite him, but such an invitation demonstrates an insensitiveness to the feelings of Negroes not only in Birmingham but throughout the country.

In Cambridge, the Harvard-Radcliffe Young Democrats last night invited the governor to debate President Kennedy's civil rights program with a Harvard faculty member. President Pusey bad said earlier the University would have "no objection" to an appearance by Wallace before a "legitimate undergraduate organization."
