While it reflects the band's growth as they have learned to combine their unconventional instruments, Greatest Hits is surprisingly cohesive. Unfortunately, "Communication" (from 1997's Left of Cool), featuring Dave Matthews' vocals, is an obvious attempt to recruit Matthews' fans, and doesn't fit with this otherwise purely instrumental album. Nonetheless, the album's two previously unreleased tracks, "Shocktime" and "Road House Blues," are melodic and Wooten's wizardry in the two alone make the album worth the money...

...kick off and got into that and then techno and a lot of electronic music. Kraftwerk were massive influences. I got into Detroit techno, especially early Detroit techno, Chicago house, and then I think it got a bit lame, it got a bit boring, and it got a bit obvious, and that's when I started going back to guitar-based stuff and Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth... Directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (La Promesse) pull no punches in their commentary. It is not political, but in their frank, documentary-influenced auteurism, simply presented for evaluation. ...Palace. But, we were one of the few to first discover the Las Vegas miracle back in 1992 when all the renovation began to transform a pop culture embarrassment into a pop culture extravaganza. Seven years later, it's the most popular vacation destination in the world. The obvious question: why? How can a place that allegedly has prostitutes cavorting on the Strip, rednecks losing their family savings at the slot machines and streets burdened with violent crime attract your average vacationer? ...obvious explanation for this state of affairs is the brutally demanding time commitment that any one extracurricular activity has come to require. Students just don't have enough free hours to accomplish many different things. This reality absolves most of us, but it does not entirely excuse those who are currently asking us to anoint them our leader. Yes, it would take someone truly extraordinary to have earned the admiration of the college's many different communities. But shouldn't the man or woman who represents Harvard's student body be at least marginally extraordinary...
