Foss and his group of composer-performers, known as the Improvisation Chamber Ensemble, appeared at Carnegie Hall last week with the visiting Philadelphia Orchestra to display their technique in somewhat elaborated form. It would not be the oddest thing about this strange and wonderful book if it turned out that Ehrenburg was in fact "Abram Tertz."
