First suggested by the Boston University "News," the league was to include Harvard, B.U., Boston College, Tufts, Northeastern, and the armed services. It was proposed as a means of perpetuating collegiate sports contests for the duration, by circumventing the expected ODT ban on unnecessary travel, which would prevent squads from participating in out of town games...
...this first wartime meeting between Harvard and West Point--and, possibly, the last for the duration--much of the color present in recent contests will be lacking. Because of transportation regulations laid down by the ODT, the Cadets are not accompanying their team, and, even though most of the officers and men connected with the University will march instead, much of the pomp and circumstance characteristic of Harvard-Army games in the halcyon past will not be present this afternoon...
Since the football, schedule had already been made up when the ODT order requesting that all important athletic contests be held near large centers of population, so that a greater number of people could reach them, no change is expected...
