Fantastic monsters unknown to natural science seem to have a predilection for the waters of British Columbia. Thence, with almost convincing regularity, have come tales of Okanagan Lake's "Ogopogo"-a mighty serpent "with the face of a sheep, the head of a bulldog" (TIME, Aug. 15, 1932). ...Ooooh! The Ogopogo!" cried a woman tennis player, pointing her racquet at Okanagan Lake. And again, last week, news readers throughout the land were reminded of British Columbia's fabulous lake-serpent. There are various theories...

For many years, clear-sighted Indians living on the shores of Williams and Okanagan Lakes have reported the appearance of a large lake-serpent. Not so quick-eyed, white men did not discover it until four years ago. Those who know describe the animal as being a gentle monster 30 ft. long, with harmless vegetarian habits. It has the peaceful face of a sheep, the head of a bulldog. It propels its long brownish-green body through...
