A staunch conservative and Prohibitionist, Gaylord practiced daily calisthenics, made business trips well into his 90s, and put in a full day at the office the day of his death...

Billy Mitchell and Eddie Rickenbacker and Charles Lindbergh. He died with Wiley Post, a one-eyed fellow Oklahoman who had twice broken the round-the-world speed record.
