...Count of Luxembourg is Franz Lehar's famed operetta about an impoverished resident of the Latin Quarter who gets paid to marry an unknown beauty and then, obviously, falls in love with her. Milton Aborn's revival company intones several splendid tunes you will recognize if you are old enough: "Love Breaks Every Bond," "Are You Going to Dance?" "I'm in Love...

...production of "Robin Hood" now at the Majestic does not exactly scintillate, still it possesses enough of the solid virtues of the operetta full-voiced chorus, music that has not lost its beauty, a universally familiar and appealing story--to put it over. Forty years is a long time in the changing fashions of the stage: time has left de Koven's music untouched, but has been less kind to the book, and only by the most violent efforts can William Danforth as the Sheriff extract an adequate amount of humor from his part...

It is a boldly amorous, decorative, at times amusing combination of drawing-room farce and Balkan operetta. Chevalier does well with songs that would be dull under less skillful handling. Director Ernst Lubitsch has arranged handsome scenes? marching grenadiers, palaces hung with cascades of stairs, a royal wedding in which flowers, lace and plumes seem blown into the set from pealing organ stops and braying horns. Neither...
