In this movie, James Bridges (director of "Paper Chase") takes a look at the day James Dean died in order to explore the cult that grew up around him. It is a fascinating idea for a film, and there was a glimmer of hope that a side of the '50s which is hardly ever seen in films might actually be explored. But Bridges constantly refuses to take the Dean cultists seriously...
