Professor J. H. Woods '87, Chairman of the Department of Philosophy and Psychology, will speak at 4.30 o'clock tomorrow at the Phillips Brooks House. An eminent Oriental scholar, he will speak on the subject of Buddhism, its history and doctrine.
Professor Woods further study of Buddhism was pursued in Kashmir and in Japan, where he studied with the foremost Buddhist scholars. His writings on Buddhism have been published in the Harvard Oriental Series, the Journal of the Societe Asiatique and the Journal of the Pali Text Society.
Professor C. R. Lanman, Wales Professor of Sanskrit and Editor of the Harvard Oriental Series, lectured yesterday afternoon to a large audience in the Peabody Hall of Phillips Brooks House on Brahmanism and Brahman literature.
Having labored for many years in the monumental work of editing the Harvard Oriental Series, Professor Lanman has recently engaged in the production of a three volume work on ancient India, consisting of more than 1,200 pages.
