...fact that the game with Yale freshmen comes Saturday was very discouraging. Their fielding as shown by fourteen errors, was wretched, and they were wholly unable to bat successfully. The base-running was careless and slow, and the throwing, especially that of Quigley, exceedingly wild. In the outfield the men were slow in starting, weak in throwing and showed poor judgement, while team work was almost wholly lacking in the infield. After making due allowance for poor support, Taylor's pitching was disappointing, as Dean hit him almost at will. Nichols played well at first base. The Dean team...

...usual batting practice, and a long, hard fielding practice. The batting was rather discouraging, as it still showed the disastrous faults of mistiming the ball and hitting too hard, which have characterized the batting all through the season. The fielding was fairly sharp and accurate, but the outfield was trifle slow in starting. No bunting or base-running practice was held...

...Saturday by the score of 15 to 2. Although the Freshmen won by so large a score, their work on the whole was not very encouraging, as the fielding, especially that of the infield, was inaccurate, the baserunning very erratic and the bunting a failure when needed. In the outfield also the men were still slow in starting. At bat, however, there was encouraging improvement, and the throwing was also better. Except for the three bases on balls which he allowed, Burns pitched a fairly good game and showed up well at critical times. St. Mark's playing was marked...

...Freshman baseball nine will play St. Mark's School at Southboro, this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Since the Groton game, the Freshman team has shown a general improvement in batting, bunting, and base-running, but the faults of inaccuracy in the infield and slowness in the outfield have not been corrected. The St. Mark's team is strong this year, although it has lost the larger proportion of the games played, partly on account of the absence of Pinckard, the team's best pitcher, who will pitch today. A hard game is therefore expected...

...work of the team has been unsatisfactory. In spite of the untiring coaching which the men have received, they have not as yet acquired anything approaching steadiness in either batting or bunting. The general fault seems to be that of hitting too hard, and knocking fly balls to the outfield. Although the base-running showed some improvement in the Brown and Wesleyan games it is as yet in a very crdue state of development, as was clearly demonstrated in the Cornell game. Throughout the season, the fielding has been the strongest feature of the work, but even in this department...
