...Tuesday. As then the nine was very weak at the bat. This at present seems to be its chief fault. The infield did not play as good a game as usual all making an error apiece with the exception of Whittemore and he had but one chance. In the outfield Wiggin at centre put up a fine game, catching two difficult flies. O'Malley at left had but one opportunity and this he took. He, however, batted better than any one else on the nine, making three hits out of four times at the bat. Scannell caught a fine game...

...varsity nine defeated Brown yesterday afternoon in an exciting game. Cook made his first appearance since the Williams game and strengthened the team materially. The outfield showed up very weak, some of the errors being inexcusable. Brown outfielded Harvard, but her errors were very costly, as every Harvard man who got his base on errors scored a run. Highlands pitched a magnificent game, striking out 16 men and allowing but 4 scattering hits. Corbett made a home run in the second inning with two men on bases. The score...

This was particularly noticeable in the outfield. Paine and McCarthy were slow in starting after the ball and Corbett made the only error in the game for Harvard. The infield put more life into their play, Whittemore and Winslow putting up the best game. In the sixth inning Wiggin went into the box and the nine immediately settled down to more steady work. Wiggin was well...

...score of 14 to 2. The game was very one-sided and uninteresting. Considering the fact that the sophomores have been out but one week for practice, the result is not surprising. Whittemore and Hoppin played the best game for '96. With the exception of Codman the outfield played wretchedly, and great improvement is necessary on the part of the whole nine if they expect to play a creditable game next Wednesday. For the freshmen, Captain Dean, Gregory, and Dunlop played the best game. Gregory was rather wild and uncertain at times, but his pitching on the whole was very...
