OVER the months, the feud between Russia and Red China has grown from petty bickering over minor matters to mighty blasts of anger on the basic tenets of Marxist-Leninist practice. Now Peking's outright challenge to Moscow's leadership of Marx's world has become a momentous family feud that threatens to split the world Communist movement. Last week the rift was there for all to see, laid out in plain words in Mao Tse-tung's Red Flag and People's Daily, followed by a paragraph-by-paragraph retort in Khrushchev...

...great release of energies. All of the effort and imagination now devoted to tax avoidance could be devoted instead to more economically constructive purposes. The misallocated resources now deflected by tax considerations could flow into more productive channels. The advantages now accruing to the ingenious tax avoider and the outright cheat would largely disappear. Much of the conservative suspicion of Rahner stems from his Socratic approach -he keeps relentlessly asking questions, dangerous, thought-prodding questions. Rahner believes that each generation must rethink the problems of theology for itself. He never rejects outright the dogmatic definitions of past councils or Popes, but he is constantly asking what the words of those definitions really mean. "The theologian of today," he says, "must be in search of a new language. We've got a lot of things to rethink. A holy boldness is needed...
