Fahrenheit 9/11 may also be branded as the film that made an overblown case against the Bush team. Certainly defenders of the Iraq war are already casting it that way. Limbaugh calls it "a pack of lies." In the online publication Slate, Christopher Hitchens wrote that it was "a sinister exercise in moral frivolity, crudely disguised as an exercise in seriousness." Even liberal Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen, an opponent of the war, told his readers that he "recoiled from Moore's methodology." To mount fast responses to critics like those, Moore has organized a "war room" overseen by former...

...theaters). The film’s endless exposing of financial ties between the Bush family and the Saudi elite is easy to dismiss as mere “conspiracy theory” hoopla—and admittedly, some of it is confusing and can seem a bit overblown. But Moore is no conspiracy junkie. What he’s pointing out here is the less-than-paranoid observation that our president might be at least as interested in his own money as in any higher calling—and, Fahrenheit tells us, the same goes for a lot of corporations...

And at least one TV columnist and his aching typing fingers will be extremely grateful. Happy viewing...

Arguments against selecting a class-wide gift are often overblown. “Trying to come to a consensus on the best physical gift would be a difficult task, and most likely, more expensive than Senior Gift can afford,” Tsurudome wrote in an e-mail. But seniors are able to vote for their class Marshals and a College-wide undergraduate council referendum is starting today, neither at that high a cost...

...feeling that Buttigieg is yearning for reasons—any reason at all—to make us believe that Democrats are good and Republicans are bad. In a very absurd argument, Buttigieg says that since sex is self-evidently good, the fuss over Democrats such as Clinton is overblown. Republicans are bad because they participate in violence. And violence is bad. Why (according to Buttigieg)? Because “we can all agree.” Of course, this answer depends on a false assumption of a broad consensus...
