Though out on his own, George has some illustrious company. His co-producer is Phil Spector, the Hector Berlioz of rock, with a genius for the complicated aural mix and a weakness for the overblown style-a weakness this time kept under control. Ringo plays on the album, and so do Nashville's Pete Drake and England's Eric Clapton. Identified in the credits as the George O'Hara-Smith Singers is a choir of Beat-le-sounding experts. That is Harrison's little joke. All the voices are George's, carefully overdubbed...

...claims, "the most honest film to date about a new life-style." Even if you accept the description of the life-style as a new one, Korty is primarily concerned with his attempt to transform that life-style into a primitive art, burdening his film with mythic resonances and overblown settings which his characters-and his camera-cannot really bear...

Among them was a fiery young F.L.Q. sympathizer, Lawyer Robert Lemieux, 29, a sort of Canadian Kunstler with a penchant for publicity and overblown rhetoric. Police also discovered several arms caches, including guns, pistols, bayonets and knives. They found no trace of Cross and Laporte, but messages received from both hostages earlier in the week had indicated that they were then alive and safe. "Decide about my life or death," Laporte wrote to Quebec...

Arab rhetoric is acknowledged to be overblown, but Syria's is sometimes in a class by itself. In their campaign of frenzied anti-Western propaganda, the Baathists once actually issued an official warning to the populace to beware of CIA "vampires," who were plotting to collect Syrian blood for wounded American G.I.s in Viet...
