...because I cannot imagine any healthy person wanting to leave. Whether floating across the stage in huge black robes, acting out a patriotic defense of the homeland, or just doing those low Cossack kicks, the dancers rarely lost my normally dance-defying attention. The only inexplicable piece was an overlong sequence in which the dancers pretended they were skating on a Russian ice rink, even executing fake spins. Very impressive. The Ice Capades must not have reached Moscow...

...EVEN THE BEST families, there are bound to be a few bucktoothed, cross eyed mutts. Among William Shakespeare's dramatic brood, Love's Labour's Lost is one of the runts of the litter an overlong, obscurely written, not too funny nerd of a play...

Virtually every word of dialogue MacLaine speaks is about herself, and that is just as she intends it: "Philosophically, celebrating myself is what I am into." However, she still tends to dominate discussions among her inner circle, and Cabinet ministers, particularly those who do not share her views, grouse about her overlong lectures and lack of humor. She does display a thoughtfulness about personal situations and an unaffected directness in talking with "little people." On the same day that she has purposely discomfited a minister, she will stop and have a cup of tea with the Downing Street switchboard operators. At a recent Tory conference, a 15-year...
