...Thanh Tay, 7,000 refugees are crowded into an area hardly big enough for a dozen water buffalo. Thanh Tay is known as a "temporary resettlement camp," but it has been in use since 1965, when the fishing village of Cam Hai was overrun by the Viet Cong. Its people now live in four long, tin-roofed sheds, in cubicles divided off like horse stalls; six to ten people occupy each stall. Ironically, peace has already returned to their former village, but their houses are occupied by the 2nd Korean Brigade, so the refugees will not be able...

Cornered the day after a Cambodian position they were visiting had been overrun, Webb and her companions were held by the Communists for three weeks in hideouts in the Elephant mountains southwest of Phnom-Penh. On the whole, she reported, the Communists "treated us well." No one knows just why she was freed. No one may ever know the identity of the woman in the shallow grave. Following usual Cambodian army practice, the body was cremated on the spot...

Moving back into the overrun position, Cambodian troops recently came upon several bodies. One of them, found partially clothed in a shallow grave, with a bullet wound in the chest and another in the head, was almost certainly Kate Webb's. She had become U.P.I.'s bureau manager in Phnom-Penh last February, at the age of 28, after her predecessor, Frank Frosch, was gunned down along with Pulitzer-prizewinning Photographer Kyoichi Sawada in a Viet Cong ambush. Webb is the tenth journalist known to have died in Cambodia since the war spilled across its borders last spring...

In 1967 he pushed a truth-in-lending bill through the Senate that had languished for four terms. He uncovered the $2 billion cost overrun on the C-5A and defense contractors' hiring of former high-ranking military officers. Finally, he is close to success in his fight against...

RHINOCEROS is the play that established Ionesco's international reputation, and it is still one of his best. It is the quintessential Ionesco play: a nightmare of wholly clogged, overrun world. Words, persons, things, and animals proliferate in a slambang of entrances and exits that snowball in a confusion of ceaseless movement. Theatricality and insanity, the two most potent themes of modern theater, are the subject as well as the method. A production of an Ionesco play involves almost as many problems as there are stage directions. The coordination of movement and dialogue must be perfect; the hectic action must...
