India had strongly backed Sheik Mujib in Bangladesh's war for independence and was distinctly unhappy about the pro-Pakistan sympathies of the so-called seven majors who overthrew him. ...Since it overthrew the Allende regime two years ago, the junta has probably "detained" for political reasons some 90,000 people, of whom about two-thirds were held for more than 72 hours.
