In contrast to the more conservative gatekeepers at Merriam-Webster and The Oxford English Dictionary, the editors at American Heritage practice a linguistic open-door policy. Give us your "shock jocks," your "scuzzbuckets," they say. Give us your "digerati" yearning to "multitask."
