...leading men, Nathan Detroit (Geoff Oxnard) and Sky Masterson (Jason Mills), cannot be praised enough. The bumbling Nathan, trying to balance his beloved crap game and his doll Adelaide, goofs things up to near disaster but remains one of the most hysterically funny--and sweetly romantic--'guys' in the entire production. Mills, no stranger to the Hasty Pudding stage, lets the less farcical side of his acting abilities shine through while still making the audience howl with laugher and exuding a voice to swoon over...

Louis' is not the only weak will in the play. In sort of parallel plot, a legal clerk named Joe (Geof Oxnard '99) exists in a permanent conflict of ideas and realities. He insists he loves his wife Harper (Jessica Shapiro '01), a fragile agoraphobe with a Valium dependency, but he seems to find plenty of reason not come home on time. He is careerist enough consider a move to Washington, D.C., despite his wife's objections, but also has enough belief in his Mormon ideals as to request that his boss refrain from taking the Lord's name...
...puns took on a life of their own. Consider Cal Ipsobeat's confession that as an un-hip Jamaican, he thought dreadlocks (which he sports) was a lousy bagel spread. Or a crew member's observation that the gold C3PO knockoff Mike Rosoft (Geoff Oxnard '99) is Excel-lent. Or Sally Vader's encouragement to Hugh Jegg to "Just keep your sunny side up and maybe this will all go over easy!" Not to mention the endless hard-boiled detective references and Star Wars ripoffs...
