Sissel, by contrast, is considerably sharp-witted--acutely aware of emotional pain and other substantial problems resulting from the experience of her parents separation. Yet toward the end of the film, it is Joey who begins to understand the folly of his misguided enthusiasm and lack of direction while at the same time Sissel seems to regress even further away from the mature relationship...
...broke in my first pair of Doc Martens, and nearly broke my smallest toes doing so. For the first (and last) time, I played tag in Harvard Yard, got drenched by the 2 a.m. sprinklers while coming home from the clubs and had a coffee date at Au Bon Pain in which an overhead sparrow pooped on my date. But rest assured that, if you were genuinely moved by the powerful presence of Angels last fall, you will...
...video-rental business began fading faster than Godzilla. Remarkably, the decline had little to do with new technologies like video on demand, long thought to be the industry's Death Star. The threats from technology persist. But it was management, not technology, that caused so much corporate pain and so many customer complaints. After all, how many times are you willing to go out for Titanic and come back with The Poseidon Adventure? Eventually you just stop going out.
